INFLUENCE OF LUBRICATING ADDITIVES ON THE SELECTED RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF GREASE
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 246, Issue 6
Abstract
This paper presents the results of an investigation of the influence of lubricating additives on the rheological properties of greases. Mineral and synthetic lubricants containing a variable amount of additive (PTFE, talc, fatty acid esters) were tested. Moreover, flow curves recorded under isothermal conditions were analysed. It has been found that the rheological characteristics of mineral greases depend largely on the amount of the additive; however, in the case of synthetic lubricants, they depend on the type of additive. The ability of lubricants to rebuild their structure was evaluated based on measured areas of hysteresis loops. It has been concluded that only the addition of fatty acid esters does not alter the ability of the test lubricant to rebuild its structure.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHEMICAL STRUCTURE OF LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE COMPOUNDS ADDED TO PARAFFIN OIL ON TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF LUBRICANT MIXTURES
Liquid-crystalline compounds added to typical lubricants, such as mineral oils, improve their tribological properties [L. 13]. The aim of this work was to study the influence of the chemical structure of liquid-crystall...
