Infrared and terahertz in biomedicine
Journal Title: Semiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics and Optoelectronics - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue 3
Abstract
A number of potential advances of infrared and terahertz technologies in application mainly to biomedicine is shortly discussed. In spite of the fact that there are a number well established imaging and spectroscopic techniques in application to biomedicine there exists some problems where IR and THz technologies are the challenging technologies that can provide information not available from other techniques. E.g., they can be applied in the cases where there is a need of improving the surgical removal of cancer, strictly locating tumor margins when conservation of normal tissue is needed.

Structural properties of chalcogenide glasses As2Se3 doped with manganese
The paper presents results of studying structural properties inherent to chalcogenide glasses doped with manganese. Investigations of the structure were carried out using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The fun...
Increasing the specularity of surface scattering of conduction electrons caused by adsorption of a hydrogen monolayer on the W(110) surface
Reported in this paper are the results of investigations aimed at scattering of conduction electrons at the tungsten (110) surface covered with hydrogen submonolayers, in which the effect of increasing the specularity of...
Luminescent properties of fine-dispersed self-propagating high-temperature synthesized ZnS:Cu,Mg
The influence of magnesium impurities on luminescent properties of ZnS:Cu,Mg using obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) has been investigated. Special attention was paid to changes of photolumine...
Аutomated method for determining the etch pits density on crystallographic planes of large semiconductor crystals
A method for express automatic evaluation of the dislocation density on the crystal surfaces has been developed. The work involves creation of a software that allows automatical determining the number of etch pits with a...
Optical properties of graphene film growing on a thin copper layer
Optical properties and surface structure of graphene films grown on thin 1-μm copper layer using the chemical vapor deposition method were investigated applying spectroscopic ellipsometry and nanoscopic measurements. Ang...
