Infrared and terahertz in biomedicine
Journal Title: Semiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics and Optoelectronics - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue 3
Abstract
A number of potential advances of infrared and terahertz technologies in application mainly to biomedicine is shortly discussed. In spite of the fact that there are a number well established imaging and spectroscopic techniques in application to biomedicine there exists some problems where IR and THz technologies are the challenging technologies that can provide information not available from other techniques. E.g., they can be applied in the cases where there is a need of improving the surgical removal of cancer, strictly locating tumor margins when conservation of normal tissue is needed.

Acoustic-stimulated relaxation of GaAs1–хPх LEDs electroluminescence intensity
The effect of ultrasonic (US) treatment on electroluminescence of initial and irradiated with 2-MeV electrons (Φ = 8.24∙1014 e/cm2) GaAs-GaP LEDs grown on solid solution base was studied. It was found that luminescence i...
In–HgCdTe–In structures with symmetric nonlinear I–V characteristics for sub-THz direct detection
This paper reports on the development and investigations of In–Hg1–xCdxTe–In structures with symmetric nonlinear I–V curves that are sensitive to sub-terahertz radiation. It is shown that at low currents photoresponse of...
Analysis of a quantum well structure optical integrated device
This paper demonstrates theoretical modeling of a quantum well structure optical integrated device. The constituent devices of the developed structure are a Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) to detect the optica...
Effect of thermal annealing on electrical and photoelectrical properties of n-InSb
InSb wafers of n-type conductivity were annealed at 300, 370 and 400 °C for 30 min in an open tube system under flowing argon ambient. The conductivity type conversion are revealed for the first time in samples with the...
Microanalysis of magnetic structure of yttrium-iron garnet films by using the scanning probe microscopy methods
In this paper, the features of the microstructure of magnetic domains observed in ferrite-garnet films (FGF) have been presented. The studied FGF with orientation (111) were grown on gallium-gadolinium substrate by using...
