Abstract
In the apogee of Stalinism (1949–1953) Polish United Workers' Party and state authorities People’s Poland maintained a variety of contacts with the communist parties of Western Europe. Especially important part of them were business contacts. Thanks to the companies created or controlled by the Western Communist the Polish authorities tried to break the Western embargo on the supply of economically important goods, including rare materials. These contacts allowed to conduct Polish communist propaganda in the West. Representatives of the Western party came to Poland for recreational and medical purposes and to obtain a support in the current political activities.
