International management framework of higher education institutions: A review in Colombia based on the case of CES University

Abstract
This article describes the general framework of the international management process at higher education institutions based on the model developed at Universidad CES. The characterization of this process requires to go beyond the traditional areas where internationalization is established. Exploratory analysis was the method proposed for implementing internationalization. Additionally, the methodological component involves the acknowledgement of tools that illustrate this process. For that purpose, it is important to review the typical features of international relations and education diplomacy of higher education institutions. Subsequently, the cooperation style resulting from the process is characterized. Finally, the impact and results achieved by those institutions in international management are presented. For Universidad CES, international management is a new raison d’être.
