Journal Title: Наукові записки Національного університету "Острозька академія" Серія "Філологія" - Year 2016, Vol 63, Issue 63
Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of communication strategies and tactics used by speakers within the psychotherapeutic discourse to achieve common communication goals. The specic concepts of communication strategy and tactics are highlighted in it. Special attention is focused on the analysis of the true motives of participants’ communicative behavior within a speech act. The relevance of the article is caused by general orientation of modern linguistic studies on the communicative aspect of functional analysis of language. On recognition of the nature of the new problem its main objective is to clarify language units functioning in a particular type of discourse (in our case – English psychotherapeutic discourse as communicative environment). In view of the complexity of the problem, the purpose of the article is the analysis of communication strategies and tactics used by speakers in psychotherapeutic discourse to achieve the overall goal of communication – verbalization of the real motives of communicative behavior. In order to cast more light on these problems, a theoretical review was undertaken. Matters of some interests arise from consideration of this problem. Further investigations of various types of communicative strategies in psychotherapeutic discourse may prove of great importance for cognitive and pragmatic linguistics.
