Abstract
The article is an attempt to determine the essence of definitions of «interpretation», «competence», «artistic and aesthetic competence», and «interpretation competence». The essence of the above-mentioned pedagogi- cal categories in the scientific researches of domestic and foreign scientists has been generalized.
