Intoksykacja barbituranami

Journal Title: Pielęgniarstwo w Stanach Nagłych - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

Barbiturates are hypnotic drugs. Their overdose may cause chronic, as well as acute reactions. The first symptoms may occur already after several minutes, however it depends on the type of the taken drug and its dose. An immediate reaction of witnesses and a medical emergency team is important. In the case of barbiturate overdose which is difficult to diagnose or other doubts it is necessary to contact a toxicological centre. Further hospital treatment depends on a patient’s state, testing for barbiturates, electrolyte levels and the hydration of a patient.
