Investigating the Relationship of the Marital Satisfaction and Mental Health of Parents with the Self-esteem and Individual-social Adaptation of Female Elementary Students of Ahvaz City

Abstract
The objective of present study is to investigate the association of marital satisfaction and mental health of mothers with self-esteem and individual-social adaptation of the elementary students of Ahvaz City during the educational year of 2013-2014. The mental health and marital satisfaction of mothers were considered as independent variable and social-individual adaptation of students was regarded as dependent variable. The present study was a descriptive-associative survey. The tools in the present study included the Enrich scale of marital satisfaction, general health questionnaire of Goldberg (GHQ), Rosenberg self-esteem scale and individual-social adaptive behavior scale of Limbert. The statistical population of present study consisted of all female students in daily-operating non-governmental elementary school of Ahvaz City and their mothers which were randomly selected. The results of canonical correlation analysis and regression analysis showed that the mental health and marital satisfaction of mothers can be good predictors of self-esteem and individual-social adaptation of the student.
