Investigation of electromagnetic transients in a frequency controlled electric drive of switching devices of traction substation transformers

Abstract

The study proposes the boundary conditions for selecting the capacitance of the converter to ensure the exclusion of the mode of self-oscillation and dangerous overvoltages in controlling the frequency of rotation of the electric drive, proposed equivalent schemes for replacing the system of the IF-DR for the phase switching of currents in two load phases, between the switching phase and the phase of linear recharge capacitors, received further the development of a mathematical model of the system of the IF-AD, which takes into account both the cyclicity of the frequency converter operation and the various stages of the switching of its valves. An additional discovery of clipping diodes is not an anomaly, but a normal mode of operation of frequency converters at elevated frequencies, and, therefore, consideration of processes without taking into account this phenomenon is one of the significant assumptions of the approximate analytical method. The development of a refined model of the IF-AD system, besides, is of independent interest for the following reasons: the regime of additional opening of the cut-off diodes may be absent, as for small values of the capacity of commuting capacitors (which, however, is due to the increase of overvoltages), and at low frequencies; a number of characteristics of electromagnetic processes can be with high precision calculated without taking into account this phenomenon. This allows, as shown in the study, to allocate a sufficiently limited number of possible configurations of the power circuit at switching intervals and to describe the processes by a small number of systems of differential equations. Thus, a significant simplification of the mathematical model and a reduction in the time of machine calculation are achieved.
