Investigation of MPPT Methods Used In PV Systems

Abstract

In this study, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) methods are investigated and an analysis of the main MPPT methods is performed. Incremental Conductance, Perturb& Observe, Open-Circuit Voltage, Short-Circuit Current, Fuzzy Logic Controller, which take part in the literature as one of the most commonly used MPPT methods, and hybrid methods based on MPPT methods are investigated. The advantages and disadvantages of the investigated methods are provided. A PV string is modeled with Matlab/Simulink modeling program. The MPPT methods are tested with the modeled PV string and their system performances are compared under the same conditions. Simulation results are given in graphs.
