INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF A SURFACE ACTIVE AGENT ON LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF OIL USED IN MARINE DIESELS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 244, Issue 4

Abstract

The paper presents the results of lubricating property tests on Marinol RG 1240 motor oil used in trunk piston marine diesel engines and modified by the Motor Life Professional surface active agent. The test results were collected by means of a four-ball extreme pressure tester T-02 according to PN-76/C-04147. The following lubricating properties parameters were determined: weld point Pz, non-seizure point Pn, seizure point Pt, load wear index Ih, and load limit of wear Goz. Investigations showed that the modification of lubricating oil by Motor Life Professional surface active agent considerably increases the wear resistance and antiseizure properties – increase of Goz and Ih parameters. The remaining parameters are unchanged (Pz, Pt) or a little lower (Pn).
