Investigation on Performance of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network

Abstract

In this paper, the simulating and investigation on DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) operating at central frequency of 1550 nm has been done. To compensate for the dispersion of DCF fiber has been used to manage the signal to noise ratio, EDFA (Eribium doped fiber amplifier) has also been used. The investigations have been carried out for different value of channel spacing & the effect of variations in channel spacing is studied on signal power, noise power. This also presents investigation on DWDM-PON networks using Raman amplifier. During this part of investigation DCF & EDFA were replaced with Raman amplifier with a length of 25 Km & four pumping frequencies, investigation have been carried out on the variation in channel spacing on Gain & Noise figure.
