Ю. БОЙКО-БЛОХИН: ХУДОЖНІЙ ПЕРЕКЛАД У РОЗВИТКУ НАЦІОНАЛЬНОЇ ЛІТЕРАТУРИ

Abstract
У статті розглянуто перекладознавчі погляди Ю. Бойка-Блохина у контексті сучасної компаративістики. Проакцентовано багатоаспектність в осмисленні еміграційним ученим художнього перекладу як наукової проблеми, з акцентом на підпорядкуванні суто перекладацьких питань (важливих для розвитку мистецтва перекладу та формування перекладацьких традицій), – загальнолітературним. Обґрунтовано актуальність і нині потрактування Ю. Бойка-Блохина функціональності художнього перекладу в національному літературному розвиткові. The article touches upon the approach of Y. Boyko-Blokhin to translation theory in the context of modern comparativistics (S. Bassnett, D. Dyurishin, P. Toper, P. Torop). Multidimensional understanding by the expatriate scholar of literary translation as a scientific problem is highlighted, with the emphasis on subordination of merely translation issues, which are important for the development of the art of translation and formation of traditions of translation, to general literary issues. Relevance to our contemporaries of Y. Boiko-Blokhin's views on the role of literary translation in national literary development – as an instrument of language development, source of content-related and formal enrichment / renewal of national literary writing, stimulus, impulse for original creative work – Is proved by comparative analysis (translations into German of Shevchenko’s writings; Ukrainian interpretation of «Faust» by M. Lukash). Special attention of the researcher is paid to clarification of significance of literary translation for stylistic progress of Ukrainian literature (romanticism, neo-romanticism). The importance of conclusions of the researcher about the role that literary translation as creative rethinking of foreign artistic and aesthetic experience plays for literature as a whole, and specifically in relation to national peculiarity of Ukrainian literature (translation by Ivan Franko of Lord Byron's «Cain» as an impulse for creation of original poem «The Death of Cain»), is proved. It is emphasized that views of Y. Boyko-Blokhin on literary translation as a scientific problem, while outlining the vast scope of investigation of this complex interlingual, interliterary and intercultural phenomenon (based on the researcher's attention to such controversial issues for today as untranslatability and congeniality), show possibilities for further development of comparativistics in this direction. It is pointed out that approaches and ideas of the Ukrainian scholar (particularly as for importance of translation for development of national literature, with the emphasis on expression of its originality) do not become irrelevant for national and foreign comparative literary studies of the modern age (with its tendency to unification of cultures). The role of vision by Y. Boyko-Blokhin (who developed the traditions of national comparative studies and, at the same time, applied the newest West European methodology) of translation as a general literary problem for continuous development of Ukrainian comparative literary studies is analyzed with due account for impossibility of its full-fledged progress during the Soviet period.
