JUSTIFICATION OF FEASIBILITY OF MEDICAL WASTE RECYCLING AND PROCESSING BY INCINERATION AT THE HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

Abstract
The purpose. To implement the installation for medical waste utilization in medical and preventive measures. Methodology. Performance of an analysis for medical waste generation volume in administrative districts of Kyiv, has been held to justify the expediency of medical waste utilization and processing. Results. The comparison of equipment for utilization of medical waste in medical and preventive institutions has been held. The analysis of existing equipment for waste utilization shows that the most relevant as for waste recycling is «ATIIncinerateurs MULLER» equipment (France), because during the process of pyrolysis burning it prevents the formation of black smoke, fine dust, formation and release of dioxins, furan, free chlorine and odors. Ash residue, which is formed, is safe and can be deposited in landfills of solid wastes or used as raw material. In order to avert formation of hazardous chemicals (dioxins, furan), technological process anticipates cooling of gases before it goes into the gas cleaning system, namely the block of dry gas cleaning, which is introduced by «ATI ENVIRONNEMENT» filter system. Originality. This work suggests equipment of incinerator mini-plant to burn hazardous medical waste directly from the medical facility's territory. Prac- tical value. The placing of mini-plants for thermal treatment of medical waste or at least installation of incinerator, and also operating of provided system of collection, transportation and neutralization of specific medical waste, will provide significant increase of sanitary conditions in urban areas and objects of household waste management. The usage of suggested solution will ensure budget savings and positive environmental effect, even within one administrative area.
