Journal Title: Przyroda Sudetów - Year 2018, Vol 21, Issue

Abstract

The great capricorn beetle Cerambyx cerdo Linnaeus, 1758 – new data on its distribution, phenology and protection in south-western Poland The paper lists 154 localities, including 146 new and 8 recently confirmed sites of the great capricorn beetle Cerambyx cerdo Linnaeus, 1758 (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae), a strictly protected, saproxylic species. The new localities fill the gaps in the knowledge of the species’ distribution in south-western Poland. All the localities are shown (Fig.1) and briefly discussed. Besides, two very interesting observations: an adult female at the end of March, and an emerging adult female and live larva in cut logs lying on the ground, are described. Some remarks on the situation and significance of the species for conservation of diversity associated with dead or moribund oaks are provided.
