Abstract
The whole complex of the sentences which are determined by the most communicative loading during scientists’ communication is analyzed on the basis of a wide factual material. A specific character of monosyllabic nominative constructions is determined. Modern scientific views of linguists according to the monosyllabic nominative sentences are presented. The syntactic organization of scientific texts is subordinated to the communicative purpose of a science. The proper use of monosyllabic sentences plays an important role. Some communicative and cognitive functions of the nominative syntactic constructions are cleared up. A special attention is paid to the analysis of monosyllabic nominative sentences in the scientific and technical texts. It is discovered that the functions of nominative sentences in a scientific style correspond to its qualitative specificity – logic and consistency of presentation. Qualitative and quantitative functioning of monosyllabic sentences shows that these constructions perform a number of important communicative functions which optimize communication in the scientific sphere providing realization of the cognitive function. It is proved that monosyllabic sentences play an important role in the perception of a scientific text. These structures analyze the process of information perception and manage it. Monosyllabic constructions also provide a visual presentation and thus an adequate perception of information. Communicative function provides the realization of a main function of the scientific sphere – cognitive. Monosyllabic sentences increase the informativeness of the text and formalize a big amount of additional statements which form the scientific picture of the world. Monosyllabic sentences help to form scientifically based ideas about the world around us and develop an adequate system of scientific knowledge.
