Abstract
Breaking the Gricean maxim of quantity in the Polish reprints of Russian press releases (Polish Tygodnik Forum in 2009-2011) Abstract The Grice's cooperative principle are divided into four Gricean maxims. This paper draws attention to Maxim of Quantity. Make your contribution as informative as is required (for the current purposes of the exchange) and do not make your contribution more informative than is required. Speakers are assumed to provide as much information as required for effective communication in conversation and no more. From 140 issues of Tygodnik Forum, that were collected in 2009-2011, 20 press releases were selected and analyzed. The aim of the analysis is to show the effects of breaking the Gricean Maxim of Quantity.
