LEARNING ENGLISH LANGUAGE VOCABULARY BY MEANS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

In the article the author examines and analyzes the information technologies created by scholars to improve the ways and means of teaching English as a foreign language with the aim of improving English language acquisition, providing access to a variety of authentic materials that are relevant to the most important issues of the development of the foreign language teaching methodology in international education and the needs of mankind. Vocabulary is the most important aspect of the language that students need to master, because it really plays a crucial role in conveying the content of thoughts and statements. At the same time, the process of learning vocabulary has traditionally been one of the less-studied areas of language training for students in higher education. Technologies and language vocabulary have many important connections today. First, technologies provide students with access to various ways to learn the English vocabulary. Second, teachers can also find many resources on the Internet to help their students to learn the English vocabulary. However, notwithstanding the proven benefits of using information technology in teaching foreign languages, not all teachers use them in their practice in a sufficient amount. Today, teachers have a need for technologies that provide updated materials related to modern life, for students with different levels of knowledge, of different types of speech activities, methodological developments proposed by academics and practitioners, technology, which are able to replace fast-paced textbooks, enhance motivation and interest of students in learning. In order to borrow world experience and introduce modern achievements in teaching English to the system of education of Ukraine, the author of the article gives a description of existing Internet tools, resources and software in language teaching, describes the feasibility of their use for solving the didactic tasks of the lesson in teaching vocabulary of English as a foreign language.
