Lend-Lease in the USSR: the oil component

Abstract
The article shows the organization of deliveries to the Soviet Union for the LendLease system of petroleum products, related equipment and machinery, vehicles for the transport of petroleum products. It was found that the issue of petroleum products LendLease in Ukraine is unexplored and fragmented. Emphasized the exceptional role of providing petroleum armed forces and given a description of the state of availability of fuel and lubricants at the beginning of hostilities. It was concluded that the supply of fuel carried by two sea routes – the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean and one land – Iranian city of Abadan. The structure of supplies took the lion’s share highoctane gasoline and additives to fuel, increased octane and its anti-knock properties. It was found that in addition to its own oil, petroleum system Lend-Lease to include and oil systems, special types of ships and trucks to transport fuel collapsible pipelines, mobile fuels.
