Abstract
This study aims to show that, popular Hausa songs in Niger, beyond their folkloric and entertainment character, are a vector and an ideological issue. Serving as a mechanism for political propaganda, they participated in the emergence of political parties in their race for accession to power and the establishment of democratic processes. Through literary semiotics, the study found that these popular songs participated in the expression of liberties and helped to maintain social cohesion in a context of political competition
