Abstract
O fim da compreensão de que os estudos literários se limitavam ao acompanhamento prescritivo e normalizador das regras poéticas possibilitou às pesquisas e reflexões sobre o literário a criação de relações com os temas que incentivarão seu projeto científico. Contudo, os estudos literários nunca chegaram àquela metodologia exigida nas comunidades científicas. Daí geraram-se três posturas: uma aconselhando maior rigor na aplicação metodológica, outras imaginando métodos alternativos e uma última de alheamento. Ao rejeitar tais posturas, porque rediscussões metodológicas são insuficientes, reavaliam-se as opções do envolvimento da consciência intelectual com os estudos literários, ao cabo de que se propõe um redimensionamento deles desde uma estetização inovadora, cujo fundamento é quebrar o isolamento teórico, prático e institucional da literatura no conjunto das artes. Como consequência final desta proposta resta refazer a carreira de Letras no país.
