Life prospects of older people being under social trusteeship: experience of empirical research

Abstract
The author analyzes data of applied research of life prospects and social well-being of older people from the positions proposed by the author of the problem-event approach. On the basis of this approach, the life prospects are discussed in the context of the events — both positive, in terms of the goals, and unwanted, creating problems to be solved by individuals. Vital prospect is interpreted as a way of subject’s predicting of his future in social, biological and problem-event planes. There is interrelation between the construction of life prospects and choice of certain type of strategies that determines the methods of overcoming obstacles in life. The research indicates that susceptibility to life organization, as the type of comprehended development of prospects, becomes a necessary foundation for effective adaptation to modern conditions, while the propensity to spontaneous life building and "relying on case" complicate it. Even for older people in need of social care for the aged the purposeful design of the prospect, even for a relatively short period of time, is the key to successful adaptation and improvement of social well-being.
