Linear Predictive Vocoder
Journal Title: International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Technology - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper discusses linear predictive coder and decoder for speech signals. The basic idea behind linear predictive analysis is that a speech sample can be approximated as a linear combination of past speech samples. The predictor coefficients and basic speech parameters such as pitch and voiced/unvoiced estimation are done at analysis end. These coefficients along with the various speech parameters are transmitted to the synthesis end. The speech is synthesized using the received predictor coefficients and speech parameters. A linear predictive model has been developed using MATLAB software tool.
