Load-carrying capacity of steel railway bridges of the second half of XIX century - discussion
Journal Title: Roads and Bridges - Drogi i Mosty - Year 2014, Vol 13, Issue 3
Abstract
The load-bearing capacity of steel railway Bridges build in the 2nd half of XIX century is discussed. The reason for the discussion is the paper published in quarterly “Roads and Bridges - Drogi i Mosty No. 2 (2014). It was concluded that for verification of load carrying capacity of bridges exploited for a long time, the long term effects on the material properties should be taken into account.

Influence of loading time on subgrade parameters derived from VSS static plate test
Achieving the required bearing capacity of a road subgrade during VSS static plate measurements is very often problematic in the contemporary road engineering execution. The problems arise during the test due to passing...
Active damping of vibrations of one dimensional continuum under a moving load
In the paper, a semi-active control of vibrations of ID elastic continuum under a traveling load is presented. Bridge spans induced by vehicles traveling over it with high speed can be reinforced by supplementary support...
Numeryczna identyfikacja cech dynamicznych stalowo-betonowego mostu kolejowego
W artykule przedstawiono wybrane elementy analizy dynamicznej kolejowego obiektu mostowego zlokalizowanego w ciągu Centralnej Magistrali Kolejowej (CMK). Zakres obliczeń obejmował rozwiązanie zadania własnego konstrukcji...
Viaduct construction with movable scaffolding system: distribution of the top slab weight
The construction of viaducts with Movable Scaffolding System (MSS) is a sophisticated. However, the construction sequence has a disadvantage of an insufficiently clear distribution of the top slab weight between the scaf...
Analysis of lateral movement of railway track due to the passage of trains
In the paper the results of vibration measurements on the base of the railroad in tunnels and classical track are presented. Measurements were performed at straight and curved sections of the track. The influence of the...
