LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN THE BALTIC COUNTRIES

Abstract
The article deals with the problems and peculiarities of the reforms of local self-government bodies in the Baltic States. It studies the general and distinctive features of local self-government reform in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It explores the powers of local governments of the Baltic countries. It analyzes the models of the municipal organizational structure in Lithuania. The article goes to examine the main functions and powers of the local governments of the Baltic States.
