LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF ALGAE OIL IN STEEL–STEEL TRIBOSYSTEM
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2013, Vol 251, Issue 5
Abstract
The physic-chemical and lubricating properties oil of obtained from algae are studied. It was found that important, from tribological point of view, physico-chemical properties of algae oil are similar to those of rapeseed oil. Both oils have a similar density as well as kinematic and dynamic viscosity at 100°C. Algae oil has a slightly lower kinematic and dynamic viscosity at temperatures below 60°C and a slightly higher viscosity index. The biggest difference between the oils was found in the susceptibility to thermal oxidation – algae oil is less resistant to thermal oxidation from rapeseed oil. Algae oil has slightly worse lubricating properties in steel-steel tribosystems, evaluated on the basis of the value of limiting load of wear (Goz) and scuffing load (Pt) . However, the lubricating properties of algae oil are sufficiently similar to rapeseed oil. Therefore, it can be used as an alternative to rapeseed oil in the ecological lubricants.

THE EFFECT OF SURFACE TEXTURE OF STEEL DISC ON FRICTION AND FRETTING WEAR
Fretting tests were performed using an Optimol SRV5 tribotester in a ball-on-flat scheme. Balls from 100Cr6 steel of 60 HRC hardness and diameters of 10 mm co-acted with discs from 42CrMo4 steel of 47 HRC hardness under...
TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF BLACKBERRY WASTE SEED EXTRACT OBTAINED UNDER SUPERCRITICAL CO2 CONDITIONS WITH SORBITAN ESTERS COMPOSITONS
This paper presents results of tribological research of a composition containing as a base, extract of waste blackberry seeds obtained by extraction under supercritical carbon dioxide conditions with sorbitan esters as a...
FRETTING WEAR IN THE ROTATIONAL JOINT
This article will attempt to explain the development of fretting wear of an axle-sleeve rotational joint. The conditions for the development of wear are surface pressure and very small amplitude oscillations. The article...
INVESTIGATIONS OF PROCESSES OCCURRING IN A CLUTCH USED IN A POWER SHIFT DURING FRICTIONAL ENGAGEMENT OF GEARS
Elements of clutch power shift gears and clutches, in particular, clutch discs should be characterized by high resistance to wear and a high friction coefficient. The reliability and durability of clutch sets depend on t...
