Management Of Intercondylar Fracture Of Femur With Periarticular Locking Plates And Evaluation Of Results By Sander’s Knee Scoring System
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Traumatology & Surgical Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Fractures of the distal femur are complex injuries that can be difficult to manage and though treatment has evolved in recent years the treatment of these fractures carry an inconsistent prognosis. LCP is a new type of implant system for the treatment of distal femoral fractures. A plate, precontoured to the anatomy, is inserted through a minimally invasive incision into the epiperiosteal space by means of an aiming device after indirect, closed fracture reduction. We have done a study on 20 patients with fracture of distal femur [either C2 OR C3 according to AO Classification3] fixed with LCP and analysed their result. We concluded that LCP is good option for managing of complex interarticular distal femur fractures but it has to be applied with proper understanding of biomechanics and respect to soft tissues.
