Mary Parker Follett – a visionary of management studies

Abstract

Mary Parker Follett is a pioneer of management theory whose ideas were far ahead of the thoughts of those living in her times. These ideas proved to be very shrewd and relevant many years after her death, especially in present times. Unfortunately, academic literature often fails to present her scientific achievements, underestimating their significance for management studies. P. Drucker referred to Mary Parker Follett as a prophet of management, and D.W. Linden – as the mother of management. Follett is an author of numerous definitions and observations of timeless character. The aim of the paper is to present the person of Mary Parker Follett and her achievements in the most important areas of organisation and management.
