Medical image Feature Extraction: A Survey
Journal Title: International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Technology - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 5
Abstract
This paper reviews feature extraction methods as it relates to medical image processing. Centrality of feature extraction stage in image processing cannot be over-emphasized. Advancements in medical image processing has been a catalyst to the various developments in the field of biomedical engineering and its multidisciplinary researches. The paper examines the basic concept of medical image processing and then concentrated on its feature extraction stage. Different fundamental feature extraction algorithms were examined and some area where researchers in the field can concentrate their effort for advancement of the field were identified.

Overlap Wavelet Transform for Image Segmentation
A new color image segmentation approach based on OWT is presented in this work. OWT extracts wavelet features which give a good separation of different patterns. Moreover the proposed algorithm uses morphological oper...
Study of Confinement Loss of Various Combinations of Square Shaped Cells of Hexagonal Lattice of Photonic Crystal Fiber
In this paper a systematic and comprehensive analysis of photonic crystal fibers with a general Hexagonal lattice and square shaped cells is being done. Square shaped cells exhibit comparative less confinement loss. S...
Reconstruction of Cloud Contaminated Remote Sensing Images Using Inpainting Strategy
This paper focuses a method for cloud detection and their reconstruction technique. Detecting these portions of an image and then filling in the missing data is an important photo editing work. The filling-in approach su...
Performance Analysis of Modified SV-Model Based DWT-OFDM Diversity for UWB System
Any UWB system faces major challenges in achieving wide coverage without affecting the system performance. In recent generation communication system OFDM is used to cater for increased data rate of wireless medium wi...
Baysian Imaging Concepts for Smart Fracture Detection in X-Ray Images
X-ray imaging is a traditional method for detecting fracture for ages. This project paves way for enhancement rather than replacement of the existing technology. It is a step towards thinking beyond digitization of X-ray...
