Method of Determining Design Time Based on Similarity Degree of Products

Abstract
To solve the problems that product design time was difficult to be forecasted accurately and traditional estimation methods had large error, a design time estimation method was proposed based on similarity degree of products. Firstly, the similarity degree of characteristic quantities was calculated based on the thought of set.Meanwhile, product characteristics were divided into two types of quantitative characteristics and qualitative characteristics. Euclidean distance and fuzzy mathematics were respectively used to obtain similarity degree of quantitative characteristics and qualitative characteristics. Secondly, similarity degree of products were computed based on similarity degrees of the characteristics quantities and characteristics.Thirdly, the relationship function was determined between product design time and product similarity degree through MATLAB software. Eventually, an example and existing algorithms were compared to prove the proposed method is reasonable and effective.
