METHODOLOGY OF THE CENTRAL BANKS’ KEY INTEREST RATE

Abstract
In the article the methodology of the key interest rate of central banks is examined. The analysis of the key interest rate as the one of the most important financial indicator is being conducted. The necessity of effective use of the experience of western countries on the central bank’s interest rate policy in the post-crisis environment is being rationalised. The procedure and methodology for determining and setting key interest rates by worlds’ most important central banks is being studied and systematized. The importance of interest rate channel of monetary transmission as a factor in promoting the efficiency of interest rate policy in the economic crisis is being actualised. The need for further research of interest policy tools, including the transmission mechanism as means to impact on monetary policy in the implementation of inflation targeting is being rationalised.
