METHODS AND TECHNIQUES OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract

The semantic content of the words «method» and «technique» on methods of teaching foreign languages are determined in the study. The word «method» bears its meaning – way to achieve the goal, but it is used to refer different in scale ways in the methodology of teaching foreign languages. Techniques are correlated to specific actions that make up the essence of the existing activities, and they are its components. The teachers’ and students’ functions in bilateral learning process are studied. The teacher and the student have one goal: the first and the second want to get final results, the achievement of which may at the end of the course, as they are in the program. It is important that the techniques are used by the teacher encourage students to solve mental tasks, not just purely mnemic which require simple memory activity, although it is also required; the student should not only to reproduce the language unit, but he should have the ability to construct expression according to standing before him communicative task. Methods indicate the activities are organized by teacher and made by student during his learning of foreign language. They are versatile and can be viewed in any direction, any system because they reflect the natural course of teaching from acquaintance to training and application (practice). Technique is the specific content of activities with learning material. They can vary greatly depending on the direction and training system of the subject, since their specific content, their choice is determined by the principles underlying the teaching of foreign languages in the framework of the system, followed by the study.
