METHODS OF MILITARY TERMS CLASSIFICATION

Abstract
The article deals with the investigation of methods of military terms classification. Military terms develop rapidly and dynamically that is why new investigations in this sphere are vital. Present-day unstable military situation in Ukraine and in the world requires new researches in military sphere in particular in sphere of military terminology. The notions “term” and “military term” were analysed. Also the methods of military terms classification were reviewed. Our own method of military terms classification was proposed. Classification of military terms according to the topic distinguishes them from the commonly used terms. This classification includes tactical, military-organizational, military-technical terms according to the armed services and branches. Classification of military terms in terms of translation includes: terms denoting foreign realia and present in native country; terms denoting foreign realia and absent in native country, but have standardized equivalents; terms denoting foreign realia, absent in native country and do not have standardized equivalents. All these types of military terms are translated in special way with the help of different transformations therefore this classification is important for the military translator. The results of the article can be used for teaching the students of philological specialities, in particular military translators (interpreters) and linguists.
