Abstract
Piotr Ossowski MICHALINA TATARKÓWNA-MAJKOWSKA (1908–1986) – AN OUTLINE OF BIOGRAPHY Michalina Tatarkówna – Majkowska was popular woman in Lodz. She was a communist party leader in polish Manchester – Lodz in 1955–1964. People liked her. Politician of Lodz named street M. Tatarkówna – Majkowska in 2005. After 1989, journalists gave an favorable opinion about her. But she was communist. M. Tatarkówna – Majkowska was born in 1908 in Lodz. Her parents was poor and worked in factory. Mother died a few months later. Father was communist in Polish Communist Party. When she was 14., went to factory “Widzewska Manufaktura” of Oskar Kohn. She met many communists and very popular Tekla Borowiakowa – authority among workers. Michalina joined the Polish Communist Party, after 1945 – Polska Partia Robotnicza and 1945 – Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza. She was good party activist. The most important role for her was party leader in Lodz. She loved this city. She completed several investments e.g.: building of Grand Theatre, Central Museum of Textiles (only in Poland), sports hall, transformer factory “Elta”, 57 buildings of schools, hospital of Maria Konopnicka, housing estates, monument of Tadeusz Kościuszko et cetera. She died in 1986 in Lodz.
