Mini implants – a simple way out of a difficult situation: A case report

Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2011, Vol 61, Issue 4

Abstract

Introduction. Early tooth loss and long-term use of dentures cause dental alveolar atrophy in upper and lower jaws, which eventually results in the reduced or even completely lost dentures stabilization.Aim of the study. To present simple and minimally invasive method of stabilization of dentures supported by implants.Methods. The possibility of constructing dentures in this group of patients is very limited as it is hardly possible to obtain a satisfactory level of retention and stabilization of denture within this group of patients. Therefore, a specific solution was applied to use precise attachments on the basis of endosseous implants, mini-implants and one-piece implants with ball attachments.Conclusions. The use of mini-dental implants can be a useful solution to ensure denture stabilization.
