Modelling of water flow in double-porosity media
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2008, Vol 431, Issue 431
Abstract
Natural soils and rocks often contain two porous systems having different physical properties. The double-porosity structure is related either to the development of a network of secondary porosity (fractures, fissures or macropores) in a microporous matrix or to the presence of lenses or inclusions with the hydraulic conductivity very different from the background material. Since the characteristic time of flow in the two pore systems differs considerably, special models are required for double-porosity media. Such models describe separately the flow in each of the two pore systems. This paper presents the most common double-porosity models and discusses the relationship between them. Special attention is paid to the models obtained by the method of homogenization.

Ocena dystrybucji arsenu w wybranych wodach leczniczych Sudetów na podstawie filtracji membranowej i modelowania specjacyjnego
Filtracja membranowa wybranych sudeckich wód leczniczych przez filtry o różnych rozmiarach porów (od 0,1 do 180 µm) pozwoliła zilustrować dystrybucję arsenu w wodzie wywołaną obecnością faz (roztwór, koloidy, zawiesiny)...
Assessment of barometric efficiency of piezometer with help of DATAFLOW logger
In wells and piezometers penetrating unconfined aquifers, the water levels are continuously changing according to the atmospheric pressure changes. By comparing the atmospheric changes, expressed in terms of a column of...
PROSPECTING FOR CONCEALED AND HIDDEN MINERAL DEPOSITS IN POLAND RESULTS AND POSSIBILITIES
Security of supply of mineral commodities is the basic concern of European Union. The present knowledge of geology makes low possibilities of discovery new deposits by grassroots prospecting. Prospecting of concealed and...
