Journal Title: Revista Brasileira de Educação e Saúde - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 3

Abstract

Use of innovative teaching materials has increasingly entered within the scope of teaching, due to the need to encourage the process of knowledge construction and meaningful learning. The objective of the study was to report the effectiveness of the use of models as a methodological tool in the practical classes of the Curricular Component of Microbiology in a College of Nursing. The didactic material used was the preparation of models, using recyclable materials and easily acquired, represented by different microorganisms, like: fungi, bacteria and viruses. The experience allowed active participation of students and monitors, as well as demonstration of creativity and satisfactory critical performance in the presentations of the models. In this regard, the use of models as a tool in interactive education has proved to be an effective mechanism in learning microbiology, because it allows looking of the morphology of microorganisms in a differentiated way.
