Modern approaches to the modeling the external forms of the car in a 3D environment

Abstract

Today, the initial stage of creating new or modernizing the existing external surfaces of the car body is the process of forming, modeling and testing the developed models.. Therefore, it is extremely important realistic modeling, taking into account the maximum number of influence factors which will minimize the time and cost of experimental studies. The work offers a method for obtaining a 3D image using orthogonal two-dimensional projections to create a model of a car body. It is determined that the proposed approach provides a sufficient level of visualization of the volume of the car body and allows to create in three-dimensional space the constituent elements of the body, including particularly complex surfaces, to develop new model modifications, to receive quality texture, to improve the quality of the created surface, to save time on modeling complex surfaces, if modeling is performed by a sufficiently qualified operator. The following universal 3D editors were considered: 3Ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, Unity, and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of their use.
