Modern complex treatment of microsporia of the scalp in children

Abstract

Objective — to increase the effectiveness of treatment of patients with microsporia of the scalp through the use of systemic antimycotics griseofulvin in combination with the original drug Аntral and antifungal agent 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream. Materials and methods. Under the supervision were 100 patients with microsporia of the scalp aged from 4 to 15 years. All patients were divided into two groups depending on the treatment. Griseofulvin tablets were administered to patients of the 1st and 2nd groups at the rate of 21—22 mg per 1 kg of the patient’s body weight. In the 1st group, patients received griseofulvin in combination with the Antral preparation. The daily dose was divided into three doses, the antral patients were taken in tablets depending on age: children 4—10 years old — 100 mg per reception, children over 10 years old — 200 mg 3 times a day. Systemic therapy was combined with external treatment with 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream. The duration of treatment in the 1st group was from 2 to 4 weeks, in the 2nd group — from 5 to 7 weeks. Results and discussion. Due to the treatment, clinical and etiological recovery was achieved in all 100 patients with microsporia of the scalp. The duration of treatment ranged from 2 to 7 weeks. The duration of treatment in the 1st group ranged from 2 to 4 weeks, in the 2nd — from 5 to 7 weeks. Introduction to the complex treatment of systemic antimycotics of griseofulvin and 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream Antral made it possible to increase the effectiveness and improve the results of treatment, reducing its duration to 2—4 weeks. After the end of the course of therapy, a good tolerability of drugs was observed without changes in the indices of general and biochemical blood and urine tests. Conclusions. The drug Antral is effective and safe in the treatment of microsporia of the scalp in children. Introduction to the treatment of the original drug Antral in combination with systemic antimycotic griseofulvin and antifungal agent 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream made it possible to increase the effectiveness and improve the results of treatment, accelerate clinical and mycological recovery, prevent recurrence of the disease.
