MODYFIED POLYANILINE AS A THERMOELECTRIC MATERIAL

Abstract

Intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) are known already from 50 years. The most popular polyaniline, can be used as a thermocouple working according to the Peltier–Seebeck effects. It is possible to control PANI properties through the choice of synthesis method, its parameters or the chemical modification. In this work, authors attention has focused on the impact of the chemical composition on the polymer conductivity, which influences the value of the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT). Conductivity as well as Seebeck coefficient measurements were carried out with use of the meter circuit of own design. Two acidic modifiers: inorganic hydrochloric acid and organic camphor sulfonic acid or conducting fillers: bismuth, silver, carbon were tested.
