Monitoring ichtiofauny rzek – cele i problemy
Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2014, Vol 27, Issue
Abstract
Monitoring of fish fauna involves regular, cyclic measurements and observations of ecosystems or their individual components, i.e. species and their populations. Being one of the most vulnerable and dynamic biological systems, freshwater ichthyofauna undergoes significant modifications mainly due to changes in water quality and the alterations of the river bed. The aim of the current study was to highlight the importance of changes occurring in fish faunas and to predict the direction of changes in response to emerging threats. The design of appropriate monitoring surveys, which adequately assess the status of fish populations, is of great importance. To predict trends in spatial and temporal variations in fish populations correctly, we need to refer to the whole structure of the ichthyofauna of a riverine system. This was confirmed by the analysis of changes in distribution ranges and exchange of occurrence sites of fish species composing ichthyofauna in the Skrwa Prawa and Słupia Rivers. Analysis of species rarity appears to be a very useful tool for this purpose. The authors indicate that the holistic approach to a riverine system is of central importance in fish fauna monitoring, and rather more important than the reference sites approach.

Monitoring ichtiofauny systemu rzecznego Skrwy Prawej: kontynuacja w latach 2010-2011
The structure and abundance of ichthyofauna in the Skrwa Prawa River system were investigated at 33 sampling sites with the use of electrofishing (standard CPUE) in 2010–2011. In this right side tributary of the Vistula...

The paper presents results of 44 day asp larva rearing from the beginning of endo-exogenous feeding (weight from 2.85 mg (± 0.16) to 3.05 mg (± 0.51)), total length from 8.66 mm (± 0.56) to 9.12 mm (± 0.40) in a carp pon...
Wpływ reintrodukcji pstrąga potokowego (Salmo trutta m. fario L.) w środkowej Polsce na populacje innych gatunków ryb
Brown trout reintroduction in Central Poland, conducted since early 1980s, has raised concerns that trout is responsible for the disappearance of some species, like lampreys, minnows, loach and gudgeon. As a result, trou...
Ichtiofauna Dzikiej Orlicy (dorzecze Łaby, Polska) – dziesięć lat później
The work is a continuation of a monitoring study, started in 2003–2005, of the ichthyofauna of the Dzika Orlica River, which along the first 33 km of its course forms a natural border between Poland and the Czech Republi...
