Monitoring ichtiofauny rzek – cele i problemy
Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2014, Vol 27, Issue
Abstract
Monitoring of fish fauna involves regular, cyclic measurements and observations of ecosystems or their individual components, i.e. species and their populations. Being one of the most vulnerable and dynamic biological systems, freshwater ichthyofauna undergoes significant modifications mainly due to changes in water quality and the alterations of the river bed. The aim of the current study was to highlight the importance of changes occurring in fish faunas and to predict the direction of changes in response to emerging threats. The design of appropriate monitoring surveys, which adequately assess the status of fish populations, is of great importance. To predict trends in spatial and temporal variations in fish populations correctly, we need to refer to the whole structure of the ichthyofauna of a riverine system. This was confirmed by the analysis of changes in distribution ranges and exchange of occurrence sites of fish species composing ichthyofauna in the Skrwa Prawa and Słupia Rivers. Analysis of species rarity appears to be a very useful tool for this purpose. The authors indicate that the holistic approach to a riverine system is of central importance in fish fauna monitoring, and rather more important than the reference sites approach.

Regeneracja ichtiofauny Bzury i Neru po ograniczeniu dopływu zanieczyszczeń przemysłowych
The fish fauna of the two biggest rivers (Ner and Bzura) flowing out from the Łódź Municipal Area (ŁMA) was the subject of this study. For several decades, these two rivers had been transporting severe domestic and indus...
Podchów larw troci wędrownej i łososia atlantyckiego z zastosowaniem paszy sztucznej, zooplanktonu i nektonu
Survival rate and growth parameters of Atlantic salmon and sea trout larvae during rearing were determined. The rearing was performed in three groups: (1) fish fed on zooplankton, (2) fish fed on larvae of nekton and (3)...
Biocenoza zanurzonych makrofitów w Warcie poniżej tamy
The tailwater of the Jeziorsko Reservoir (middle course of the large lowland Warta River, Poland) has long been a site of abundant seasonal development of macrophytes, which is due to a specific water management of the r...
Uwarunkowania i prowadzenie gospodarki rybacko-wędkarskiej w zbiornikach zaporowych
Specific conditions in dam reservoirs and the basis of their classification have been discussed. Regularities in the forming of ichthyofauna of the Włocławski, Zegrzyński and Siemianówka reservoirs were shown as an examp...
Ichtiofauna systemu Widawki. Część II. Dopływy
Nine streams in the Widawka (Warta) River system, including the Krasówka, Rakówka, Pilsia, Chrząstawka and Grabia Rivers, were electrofished at 36 sites in summer 2003. Altogether 5003 individuals representing 26 fish an...
