Monitoring of groundwater contamination of Sagzi plain for drinking use
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 5
Abstract
aquifers as one of the most important resources for supplying water are faced to many problems including dropped table, decreased feeding due to lack of rainfall and natural and other contaminants. Due to population growth and increasing need for water resources, groundwater water quality assessment for drinking use is of particular importance. This study aims to monitor spatial and temporal groundwater quality of Sagzi to prevent the problems related to drinking water by presenting management strategies. In this study, qualitative parameters of Mg, Cl, Ca, Na, So4, PH, were used and then by using Kriging method which has lower RMSE and ME than the IDW and by using GIS 10.2.2 software the study areas was zoned. The results based on Schuler classification suggest that the whole area has an acceptable quality almost except chlorine during period of 2001-2015 years but overall the water quality of the region has a decreasing trend, and the western part of the region is best location to provide drinking water and the region is characterized by some contamination in Southeast and East parts of the areas, Which can be explained by excessive use of groundwater and industrial development in this area as well as geological formations.
