Morphological and Functional Properties of Erythrocytes in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Combined with Obesity

Abstract

During the examination of 61 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in combination with varying degrees of obesity and without it, it was found that one of the mechanisms of disease progression is a violation of the morphological and functional properties of erythrocytes (erythrocyte deformation index decreased on the background of higher relative viscosity of erythrocyte suspension and the percentage of peroxide hemolysis of erythrocytes), the degree of which depends on the severity of concomitant obesity.
