Motivation and involvement of employees with disabilities in IT companies

Abstract
The article addresses the motivation issue of employees with disabilities employed in IT companies. After an initial attempt to define motivation and its classification, the psychological determinants of this phenomenon have been examined, which stand for a bridge between motivation understood in terms of professional categories and the problem of motivation of people with disabilities. The study included a large sample of more than four hundred respondents, including disabled and non-disabled workers. The aim of the study was to obtain information on the relevance of motivators occurring in enterprises – from the perspective of a non-disabled employee and an employee with a disability. It was hypothesized that in case of non-disabled persons, the main motivators were: providing them with training and creating an individual development path, whereas access to medical care and an employment contract for an indefinite period of time is particularly important for disabled workers. The presented results stand for the verification of the hypotheses.
