MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION AS A PART OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF WORLD LITERATURE WOULD-BE TEACHERS

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of multicultural education in the pedagogical context as a priority direction of professional training of world literature would-be teachers. The definitions of the notion "multicultural education" that complement each other are presented which in general contribute to understanding of the essence of this concept. The priority aspects of multicultural education are analyzed, and the content of multicultural education is revealed in this work. It has been determined that multicultural education of future teachers of world literature is expedient to conduct on the basis of person-oriented, culturological, comparative and systematic approaches. The article establishes the possible ways of multicultural education of future humanitarian teachers. We focus on the concept of the dialogue of cultures as one of the important theoretical bases of multicultural education. The concept of the dialogue of cultures forms the basis of the subject "World Literature". The basic principles, structural components and content of multicultural competence of the world literature would-be teachers are characterized in our work. The subject of "World Literature" allows purposefully to form young people's ideas about the diversity of cultures in the world, to identify themselves in the multicultural society, to cultivate a tolerant attitude to cultural differences, to develop the ability to interact with native speakers of different cultures. Cognitive and emotional-value components are highlighted in the structure of multicultural education of students-philologists by means of artistic word. In forming the multicultural competence of the world literature would-be teacher we emphasize reproductive, reproductive-constructive, constructive-creative, and reflexive-interpretation stages.
