Mykhailo Hrushevsky and cossack archeography (Lviv period)

Abstract
The article analyzes the contribution of M. Hrushevskiy in Cossack Archeography during the twenty years of his life and work in Lviv. The researching and editory activity of a scholar in the branch of Cossack archeography was reproduced. It has been shown, that sources the scholar published on the pages of «Memoirs of NTSh» and «Memoirs of UNT» were found. It has been proved that the head of Archeography Committee NTSh initiated collective research of documents of Cossack era. While conducting this process he relied on his disciples – representatives of Lviv historical school. It has been found out that the Head of NTSh for the ¿ rst time suggested «shift» method of archeographical research. There has been made a conclusion about the importance of M. Hrushevskiy’s archeographical work at the ¿ eld of Cossack archeography for Ukrainian historiography of the end of XIX- the beginning of the XX century.
