Abstract
Any artistic work is author’s message, the main instrument to show individual perception of the world. At the same time it’s interesting when the author, referring to already existing mythological systems, creates his own mythology through a combination of irrational and real worlds, bringing ancient associations and codes for the modern reader. The article is devoted to determination of features of mytho-magical worldview in the Ukrainian model of fantasy – novels of Darina Korniy "Honihmarnic" and Volodimir Arenev "Besova dusha or Zaklyatiy skarb". The main content of the research is the analysis of chronological grounds of artistic world, reproduced in the mentioned above novels. Dara Korniy transfers the story to the modern real world in which the lives of ordinary people unexpectedly intersects with the magical powers of people who control the lightning and ghosts (horizontal grounds). But Volodymyr Arenev turns to "the epoch of so-called middle ages", the time of the Cossacks, firstly transforms ideas of our ancestors about a clear structure in the world – Jav, Nav and Vyriy (vertical grounds). Special attention is paid to the interpretation of Ukrainian mythology, the reconstruction of images of dvodushnik-honihmarnik in Darina Korniy’s work and Cossack-haracternik in Volodimir Arenev’s work. In both novels it is traditionally raised the constant opposition of "good – evil", but this fight goes more and in the inner world, questioning the existence of absolute good and absolute evil. The basis of creating an artistic world of Ukrainian fantasy remains a myth, which forms the particular worldview of the writer.
