NATALIA KOBRYNSKAYA’S COLLECTION «FAIRYTALЕ»: СREATIVE GENESIS, PROBLEMS OF RECEPTION, SEMANTICS AND POETICS

Abstract

Subject. The article examines Natalia Kobrynska’s collection «Fairytales» (Chernivtsi 1904) in various aspects: creative genesis, critical reception, auto-critique, poetics of images in the context of stylistic trends of Ukrainian litera-ture. Topic. In the Collection «Fairytales» Kobrynska marked the transition to modernism and literary skills in synthe-sis of folk and literary material, offering an interesting contamination of realistic and fantastic textures, using elements of symbolism, mysticism and bizarre imagination. The purpose of the work is to analyse Kobrynska as the phenomenon of author identity and artistic creativity; to explore the artistic world of fairytales in terms of genre, poetics and seman-tics of images. Methodology. The study used the cultural and historical, textual, hermeneutic, biographical, structural and semantic methods and method of receptive aesthetics. Scientific novelty. First collection «Fairytales» is analyzed comprehensively, in terms of creative genesis and history of the publication, critical reception, auto critique, poetics and stylistic techniques. For scientific use still unknown epistolary materials are added. Scope. Survey’s materials will be used as the basis for theoretical research on style, psychology of creativity, poetics of literary text, study of the liter-ary process, writer’s contacts, problems of synthesis for folklore courses on the history of Ukrainian literature and the-ory of literature. Conclusions. The collection «Fairytales» marked the new stage in the evolution of the writer’s creativ-ity, hitting reader with unexpected innovations using mythopoetic structures of fabulous creation, genre syncretism, artistic transformation of folk and folk demonology.
