National Brand Communication Management in the Context of Public Diplomacy

Abstract

Today, when public opinion is demonstrated to be an important instrument of foreign policy, the increasing level of democratization is cited as one of the most important reasons for this. It is clear that publicizing the issue and securing public support for it will increase the possibility of political actors' policies to be accepted and effective abroad. Therefore, during this period, many states, especially the great powers, attach considerable importance to the presence of public diplomacy in order to gain the support of the foreign public to achieve their international goals. Today's global society also includes a democratic political institutional structure that limits state sovereignty as well as a global civil society organization that will influence and contribute to decision-making processes and exhibits a greater propensity for democratic politics. In this study, reflections of this trend are focused through a descriptive method, and the conceptual infrastructure of public diplomacy is examined in terms of national brand communication. As a result, it has been found that the value-laden soft source of power that forms the basis of democratic politics can only be experienced through studies of public diplomacy.
