NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND MUSTAFA NECATİ SEPETÇİOĞLU’S EPIC ADAPTAIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF CHILD EDUCATION

Abstract
Republic era author Mustafa Necati Sepetçioğlu is a productive artist captures attention who has given many different types of work, such as novel, story and theather. Sepetçioğlu is famous for his national and historical novels subjected about Turkish-Islamic values. He has penned the works within the farmework of national epics which represents one of the torpics of his art. He has prepared a comparative study dealing with turkish epics and he has written the book Yaratılış ve Türeyiş which is composed the turkish epics in a single text. Furthermore his adapting the Oğuz Kaan, Göç and Ergenekon epics into the form of childeren’s novels by the re-evaluating is also remarkable. Sepetçioğlu commented the epics in a new form for the children in his books published in 1978 and named Beyaz Güvercin, Kutsal Kaya, Demir Dağlar Sıra Sıra. He aimed that children gained the patriotism and national values. In addition it can be considered as a contribution to childeren’s literature in these books and writer aims to grow national sense by the emphasis the turkish method of lifestyle, state mentality in the same time. This work aims how Sepetçioğlu epic fiction adaptaions made contribution to the children education in the frame of national values and how he presented the values in the epic fiction.
